Radon gas is the 2nd leading cause of LUNG CANCER

sourced to the EPA, 2019.

  • You cannot see, sell, or taste radon.  But it still may be a problem in your home.

  • When you breathe air containing radon gas, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer.

  • In fact, the Surgeon General of the United States has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States of America.

How do I know if radon is in my home?

  • Testing is the only way to find your home's radon levels.

  • The EPA and Surgeon General recommends testing all homes for radon.

  • Diamond Property Inspections, LLC in Kansas City can perform this important test for you.

If SELLING my home, should I wait

for the BUYER to test for radon?

  • No!  The EPA recommends that you test your home BEFORE putting it on the market and, if necessary, lower your radon levels with a mitigation system.

  • Save the test results and all information you have about steps that were taken to fix any radon problems in the home.

  • This could be a positive selling point for you to set yourself and your property apart from your competitors (other sellers).

What if I am BUYING a home?

  • The EPA recommends that you know what the indoor radon level is in any home that you are considering for purchase.

  • Ask the seller for their radon test results.

  • If the home has a radon-mitigation system, ask the seller for information they have about the system.

  • If the home has not yet been tested, call us to schedule an appointment.

  • If you are building a new home, there are features that can be incorporated into your home during construction to reduce radon levels.

  • These radon testing guidelines have been developed specifically to deal with the time-sensitive nature of home purchases and sales, and the potential for radon device interference.

Do you have to be CERTIFIED to test for radon?

  • Inspectors SHOULD be, but not all are.

  • All Diamond Property Inspectors are CERTIFIED Advanced Radon Measurement Inspectors.

  • Each of our inspectors is educated and trained through InterNACHI's rigorous Certified Radon Tester program.
